Fine Amber: Qvevri wines from Georgia

This virtual tasting will explore the diversity, nuance and ambition of contemporary orange qvevri wine in Georgia. We will taste 8 wines from different regions and grape varieties. The virtual tasting will include a presentation and discussion on the form, function and use of qvevri. These clay egg-shaped vessels are (probably) the oldest example of engineering in wine making, and have been used to make wine in Georgia for 8,000 years.

This tasting will take place virtually, via zoom, at 10:30am on Thursday 17th November 2022.

Confirmed guests will be posted tasting samples by our partner Wine Logistics, whose rebottling service under argon we have found to ensure excellent stability and typicity of samples.

The session will be led by Sarah Abbott MW.
