Virtual Tasting - Artisanal and limited production winemakers of Georgia

The indie winemaking scene in Georgia has blossomed in the last decade, withmanysmallto medium sized producers of high quality. There are now over 2000 registered wineries inGeorgia. These newer artisan producers join a group of established, and inspirational,producers who have championed refinement, finesse and character in Georgian wineformany years.This virtual tasting features wines from eight producers.

Some, such as Dakishvili FamilyWine Cellars, are well known in Georgia and even the UK. Others, such as Winery Pi andNaberauli, are new names attracting attention for their vibrant wines.All the producers featured in this tasting practice sustainable viticulture and reduced inputwinemakingin some form. Some, such as Papari Valley, follow what are commonly termed‘natural’ winemaking with no fining or added sulphites.

Martali Wines are in the process ofachieving Biocert certification for biodynamic viticulture.  Some producers, including Dakishvili, Papari Valley, Casreli and Winery Pi, are represented in the UK market. Others, such as Naberauli, Oreste, Martali and Georgian Wines are (at the time of publication) seeking a UK importer.  This tasting will take place virtually, via zoom, at 10:30am on Wednesday 28thSeptember.  Confirmed guests willbe postedtasting samples by our partner Wine Logistics, whose rebottling service under argon we have found to ensure excellent stability and typicity of samples.  The session will be led by Sarah Abbott MW.  To apply for a place at this virtual tasting and receive samples please register below.
